Muskoka Real Estate Matters – By Maggie Tomlinson
As we enjoy the start of another new year, it is my pleasure to share with you a series of informative editorials with tips for buying and selling Muskoka real estate.
One of the questions I most often get asked as a Realtor is … what can I do to my home or cottage to add more value?
If you are thinking of selling this year, then this is the perfect time of year to work on sprucing up your interior.
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Paint – One of the least expensive ways to add value is to refresh your interior with a fresh coat of paint. Remember to be eco-friendly and look for ‘low VOC’ options.
Kitchens & Baths – Complete kitchen and bathroom renovations can be expensive but are not always necessary. Instead consider cabinet refacing or simply repainting them. Updates to countertops and fixtures are important, and replacing those older appliances with more efficient energy-star ones is also a good idea.
Flooring – What condition are your wood floors in? Cost savings can be realized by refinishing them instead of installing new.
I hope you enjoy the first few months of the year working on some interior projects. If you aren’t handy and need someone to help, please don’t hesitate to contact me for referrals of any professional local trades.
Have high expectations of your Realtor, ask questions & remember – your home or cottage is one of the biggest investments in your life – invest wisely.
Until next time – Happy New Year – and happy buying and selling!
